April 2021 Reading Update
A little bit late but still great, here is my reading update for the month of April.
I read a grand total of 10 books and 4,381 pages during the month. This was a great month for me and might have been my best month in years as far as statistics are concerned. It was a pretty good increase over last month in both areas. I know that the numbers are not all that matters when it comes to reading but for me, in this year or trying to reach my goal of 100 total books read in a year, this was a good month.
It was also a pretty decent month as far as reading quality and enjoyment. My overall rating for the 10 books was an average of 3.5 out of 5 stars. I had two 5 star reads, three 4 star reads and the other five were 3 stars for me. This means that all were books that I enjoyed at the very least, with half being ones that I liked a lot or even loved.
I am continuing with my overall goal of progressing through the series that I had started, although my resolve is starting to fail. I am definitely feeling the itch to start more new series because there so many shiny, beautiful books out there! We will see how strong I can be going forward. In April, six of the ten books that I read were at least the second book in a series and another was a stand-alone non-fiction book (Underland by Roger Macfarlane). For example, I read the 17th book in the Dresden Files, Battle Ground along with Volumes 7 and 8 of Chew, the comic book series. I also finished two series this month, Warcross by Marie Lu, and Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman, which feels great to get those completed.
Overall, I feel really good about my reading this year. I have enjoyed being so diligent about my reading and staying focused on it. I feel like hitting my annual goal is within my grasp and I am excited to get closer, no matter how arbitrary it might seem to others. Okay, back to my books!
